Holland, Mich., August 12, 2022 – United Way of Ottawa and Allegan Counties is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Gaggin as its new president and chief executive officer, effective August 15, 2022.
Gaggin comes to United Way of Ottawa and Allegan Counties with a love for the community and over 30 years of senior management leadership experience. He has held senior leadership positions at Coca-Cola, Ultra Pac, Inc., National Beverage Corp., and most recently, served as president and COO of Uncle Ray’s snacks. Gaggin’s career is highlighted by many examples of strong leadership and team building while working to create inclusive environments among demographically diverse populations.
Deborah Erickson, Chairperson of United Way of Ottawa and Allegan Counties, says that the organization’s board of directors is excited for Gaggin to step into his new role. “While the members of our Executive Team were impressed with Brian’s accomplishments and ability to drive revenue, more importantly, we value Brian’s ability to create lasting relationships,” says Erikson. “Brian’s desire to connect with others in a meaningful way enables him to advocate for growth and positive change. Brian is committed to helping our neighbors build a better life and I can’t wait for him to begin.”
Gaggin has strong family ties to West Michigan, dating back to when his maternal grandfather, Martin Van Tubergen, immigrated to Holland from the Arnhem area of the Netherlands after World War II.
Though born in Detroit, the early days of Gaggin’s professional career included time with Proctor & Gamble in Grand Rapids, covering territory that included the Greater Grand Rapids area and much of West Michigan, including Saugatuck, Allegan, Holland, Grand Haven, and Muskegon. “Traveling this territory daily, I really learned to appreciate and come to love West Michigan,” Gaggin says of this time in his life. “In fact, even after my career took me to other parts of the country, our family always maintained a cottage on Crockery Lake near Conklin.”
“My upbringing instilled in me a strong work ethic and drive, as well as empathy and appreciation for others striving to improve their lives and overcome challenges,” Gaggin says.“My goal is to help people realize their full potential and help create stronger, healthier communities.”
Gaggin is a graduate of Michigan State University. He currently resides in Ottawa County with his wife, Mollie.
